El Palmar Garden | Southwest Ranches, Florida

Located on the grounds of a former palmar, or palm grove, the upper canopy for this two-acre garden was designed with a curated selection of large flowering canopy trees and distinctive palm species.  Legacy palms and noteworthy trees currently on the grounds will be harvested, reserved during construction and eventually relocated along the waterline, courtyard and perimeter garden areas of the estate.

The arrival sequence to the main residence takes advantage of  the site's narrow profile, by creating a long, winding driveway that follows the water's edge and offers framed views of the adjacent landscape.  A collected specimen Ficus tree will anchor the arrival court and provide scale and a sense of arrival to the contemporary two-story residence.  A ribbon of lawn unravels along the length of the property allowing the owners the opportunity for early morning and evening walks in their garden.
